Red Oak Ballroom - Bride of the Quarter
Brooke & John Alvarez
Red Oak Ballroom

The Beginning:
John and I met four years before we started dating but never really talked. It was a “Hi Bye” thing. We worked across the street from one another. He worked at Lamonte’s and I worked at Grisby Grill. One day, two regulars were in my bar at Grisby telling me that John had been asking about me. They said the same to him about me. In reality, we never said anything about each other to anyone but they had us believing that we were saying stuff about one another. Later that night I got off of work and went and met a couple of friends over at Lamonte’s for a couple of drinks and guess who just happened to be sitting with them? John. My friends left after about an hour of all of us talking and left John and I together. We started talking and then he asked for my phone number. Of course he didn’t call until two days later but after that he was stuck with me and never wanted to get rid of me. We always thanked those two random regulars that had us believing we were talking about one another, they knew we were meant to be together and made it happen.
The Middle:
As our first date John invited me over for wine, TV and talking. He had no idea his roommate was having a party the same night. So instead, we ended up going out the weekend after to Carrabbas. About six y
ears went by and John still could not get rid of me! He had thrown me a surprise birthday party but little did I know that was not just the surprise. After everyone sang Happy Birthday, John came up to me and asked what I wished for. I said “I don’t know nothing.” He said “You don’t wish for this?” Then he got down on one knee and proposed. It was amazing! One of the best days! I knew I was I was in love with John I think before we started dating. We took a class together and he was so funny. I had told my friend how cute he was. John has made me laugh ever since! I knew Brooke was “the one” when I realized when I would wake up thinking about her and wanting to be with her every day because she always made my day.
The End:
Now that we were engaged it was time to start planning. Our engagement was ten months. It was the best ten months! Wedding planning was so fun! I had received an invitation to the Red Oak Ballroom Open House. When I walked into the open house I knew it was the perfect location. It was beautiful and exactly what I wanted. We decided to have the reception and ceremony both at the Red Oak Ballroom. I loved everything about our wedding. I married my best friend, plus all of my other best friends were in the wedding also. All of John’s best friends were there to celebrate with us. Both of our families were there, I had the perfect dress with the perfect colors. We had theperfect location, the food was amazing, the décor was great and the music was perfect. Everyone says when you know you know. I knew exactly when I walked in for the open house that I was at the place I was meant to be married at.
