The State of Texas Alliance for Recycling (STAR) held its’ 26th annual Texas Environmental Leadership Awards at the Red Oak Ballroom in Austin. Fort Hood was presented the Texas Environmental Leadership Award for it’s commitment to environmental stewardship, innovation and education. Over the past year, Fort Hood collected 8.5 million pounds of recyclables, generating $1.68 million in revenue from materials including plastics No.1–2, metals, cardboard, paper, brass, scrap metal, electronics, used oil, lead-acid batteries and cooking oil.
